What is Expedition?

Expedition is an intensive discipleship and ministry training program with a strong emphasis on serving the Lord in a cross-cultural context. The program is focused on two main outcomes:

  • Love God, by learning how to
    • Delight in God and His ways
    • Break sinful habits and resist temptation
    • Listen to God in times of choice
  • Love your neighbour, by learning how to
    • Serve others humbly, sacrificially, and wisely
    • Minster effectively, including a one-week mission trip to downtown Toronto to serve the urban poor and homeless
    • Minister cross-culturally, including a six-week overseas mission trip

When is Expedition?

Expedition runs in two one-semester sessions each year: in the summer and in the fall. For those who can’t take four months out of life to participate in these full-time sessions, Expedition is also offered in a part-time format that runs on alternating Saturdays (with breaks) for an entire calendar year. Each of these sessions are targeted to young people ages 18-24 who want to learn to love God and their neighbour more effectively.

How much is Expedition?

The total cost of the travel semester in 2015 was $10,000, broken down as follows:

  • Room and board: $1,800 – NOTE: students in the part-time session do not incur this cost, as they do not live on campus
  • Tuition and training: $5,200
  • Mission trip: $3,000 – NOTE: this portion of the program cost can be met through fundraising, with tax-deductible receipts being issued for all donations

The Expedition program is eligible for OSAP funding.

Earn up to 6 academic course credits and 2 units of Field Education (transferable into any degree or diploma program at Emmanuel Bible College)

What's after Expedition?

What’s better than Expedition? More Expedition! If you want to complement your travel semester with an academic semester of Bible college classes, then sign up for Expedition Plus. For the fall session, this academic semester runs in the winter, while for the summer session the academic semester can be scheduled either before the travel semester (in the winter), or after the travel semester (in the fall). These additional credits are transferable into any degree or diploma program at Emmanuel Bible College.

The Expedition Plus program is also eligible for OSAP funding.
